Stop, Drop and Roll SHOULD ONLY BE USED IF YOUR CLOTHING CATCHES FIRE
As a kid, especially in Kindergarten, Stop, Drop, and Roll was a big deal. In fact---adults of today are still perplexed on how we have gotten through our lives without ever having to act this procedure out. But jokes aside---Stop, Drop and Roll is a life saver and SERVPRO of New Philadelphia wants to give our adults (and kids alike) a little re-lesson on this true lifesaving, forgotten technique.
Stop, Drop and Roll is a method to use if your clothing catches fire. You should always stay away from fire. But if your clothing does happen to catch fire the NFPA suggests: “Stop where you are. Drop to the ground and cover your eyes and mouth with your hands. Roll over and over and back and forth until the flames are out. Cool the burn and get medical help.”
Allowing your children to understand how Stop, Drop and Roll works is very important. Kiddos get very confused, especially littler children, when to use this technique. Stop, Drop and Roll SHOULD ONLY BE USED IF YOUR CLOTHING CATCHES FIRE. The NFPA warns that “children who do not have a good understanding of stop, drop, and roll will sometimes do this if they burn a finger or need to get outside if the smoke alarm sounds. Using stop, drop, and roll under the wrong circumstances could be very dangerous.” Littles should understand that if the home is on fire---they should immediately get outside.

- Stop where you are.
- Drop to the ground – lay flat with your legs out straight and cover your eyes and mouth with your hands.
